Gene Murtagh is the CEO of Kingspan Group Plc, one of the world’s leading providers of low energy building materials with operations spanning Ireland, UK, Mainland Europe, Central Europe, North America and Australasia. The Group has annual sales in the region of €1.5bn and employs over 5,000 people globally. He joined Kingspan in 1993 having completed a Business Studies with German Degree in University of Limerick and spent the first two years working in Sales and Marketing with Kingspan’s business interests in Continental Europe. He was General Manager in Ireland for the Insulation division from 1995-1997, before taking up the position of Managing Director of the Environmental & Renewables business for 3 years. From 2000 to 2003 he was Managing Director of the Insulated Panels business which then represented 38% of the Group’s turnover, before spending 2 years in the capacity of Chief Operating Officer. In 2006, Gene was the recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to Business Alumni Award by the University of Limerick Alumni Association.
