2010 Alumni Annual Fund Appeal
The Annual Fund is a fundraising appeal made each year to members of the UL graduate community. The aim of the Annual Fund is to provide enough resources to fund a variety of projects which improve access to the University and also broaden and enrich the educational experience of our students. Whatever you can give is very much appreciated. Many small gifts amount to a lot!
PROJECTS
Alumni Circle Scholarships
Supported exclusively by the generosity of UL graduates, the Alumni Circle Scholarships aim to help two students every year by raising enough money to offer a 4-year undergraduate scholarship and a 1-year postgraduate scholarship. The 4-year scholarship benefits socio-economically disadvantaged school leavers who would like to study at UL.
Did you know? Since the Alumni Circle Scholarships were established in 2001, UL graduates have provided 9 undergraduate scholarships to students who would not otherwise have had the opportunity to avail of third level education, and 8 postgraduate scholarships for talented students at UL.
Graduate Medical School Scholarships
Ireland's first ever Graduate Medical Programme started at the University of Limerick in September 2007. The Graduate Entry Medical School offers a four-year medical degree programme open to graduates from any discipline. It has a highly innovative curriculum that aims to produce doctors who are well equipped to meet the existing and emerging needs of Irish society.
Scholarships are needed to give financial assistance to students who otherwise would not be able to take up their place on this challenging programme. Special emphasis is placed on students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Student Financial Aid Fund
The Financial Aid Fund (or the “Hardship Fund” as it is known by students) assists students facing genuine unexpected hardship by providing them with a loan or a modest bursary so that they can continue with their studies.
Did you know? To date over €30,000 has been generously donated by UL graduates to the Student Financial Aid Fund.
Clubs & Societies Fund
Clubs and Societies are an important part of University life. They are a vital way for students who have moved away from home to make friends and mix socially. They also contribute to a great atmosphere around campus and enable students to balance their coursework with other positive and beneficial activities.
The Clubs and Societies at UL are under increasing financial strain as sponsorship budgets are cut. If you were a member of a club or society at UL, you might like to support the Clubs & Socs this year!
